Flow Assurance Management Expertise

When blockages form in subsea pipelines, flowlines, control lines, or chemical distribution systems, the subsea production system often operates outside its designed flow assurance parameters. As field production ages, the original flow assurance model may no longer be valid due to increased produced water or other constituents precipitating and depositing in the pipeline. For blockage remediation, Caltex offers a variety of flow assurance solutions.

With over 20 years experience managing a variety of blockage situations, we work directly with the customer at the schematic level to diagnose core issues and ideate on a custom solution.

Hydrate remediation

Hydrate blockages are formed when produced water or seawater interacts with natural gas in a cooled, high-pressure environment, creating an ice-like solid. These hydrates can develop during unexpected production shutdowns if the facility was not prepared in advance, or if operating parameters change, causing the flow assurance model to enter the hydrate formation zone.

Pipeline Blockage Remediation

Typical subsea blockages can develop due to the buildup of waxes (paraffins) or asphaltenes, which restrict flow and can eventually cause a complete blockage.
