Diagnostics to Remove Blockages
Troubleshooting potential blockages and restrictions inside subsea control lines, jumpers, and umbilicals can be challenging. However, with the assistance of high-precision instrumentation, such as high-resolution pressure transducers and flow meters, these blockages can be accurately characterized. Hydrates, ice-like structures that compact into solids, can cause blockages. These are typically reversed by reducing the pressure to below 10 bar absolute.
We build custom skidded packages outfitted with proprietary pumps and high-fidelity instrumentation to help determine whether a blockage is solid or caused by gas interaction. The Hydrate Remediation Skid (HRS) is a multi-purpose skid suitable for pumping most chemicals used subsea. It has a strong track record in subsea operations with impressive reliability.
Through its sophisticated control system, the pump’s piston position is tracked in real time and actively controlled, eliminating dynamic impulses that can lead to premature seal failure. The process control valves are electrically controlled, allowing precise positioning and featuring ramp-up and ramp-down capabilities to further reduce dynamic forces that often cause seal failures in hydraulically actuated valves. The HRS has been qualified to operate under extreme conditions, including extended-duration gas pumping.
